When is the BEST time of day for over 65s to exercise?

Of course, this is a personal choice but here’s a little bit of information about when the BEST time of day to exercise is if you’re over 65… and a few things to consider:

Listening to Your Body's Natural Rhythms: Considering the body's natural rhythm is essential. As we age, our circadian rhythm tends to shift, leading to earlier bedtimes and waking up earlier. Mornings may be a favourable time for exercise as it aligns with the body's natural energy levels.

Taking Advantage of Cooler Temperatures: Exercising during cooler hours can be beneficial for older adults who are more susceptible to heat-related complications. In warm weather, early mornings or late evenings can help avoid extreme temperatures, reducing the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and strain on the body.

Considering Medication Schedules: Some medications can affect energy levels or blood pressure, potentially impacting exercise.

Take all of these factors into consideration and then remember that the best time to exercise is when it works for you! Whether that’s your lifestyle or personal preference, the most important thing about exercise is to get it done! Prioritize your health by staying active and enjoying the benefits of exercise, regardless of the time!
